The long awaited first victory of the season for our team

Finally, the long awaited first victory of the season for our team: 13-0 against Lausanne. Our main goals were to win three points, create movement, play together, and most importantly – have fun. With yesterday’s match, we ticked all the boxes.

The match started off well as we immediately managed to put pressure on the opponent’s team. Despite having played a match just the day before, our legs weren’t as tired after all – we were hungry for the victory! Only six minutes into the match, Alexia duly celebrated her return to the team: After a beautiful built-up in front of the circle, she scored the very important first goal. We didn’t give Lausanne time to rest after that, because Alicia scored again right away in the seventh minute (Alicia’s first goal in this match, of which many more were to follow). We continued to put pressure, tackle-back, and use both sides of the pitch to build attack after attack. This led to us getting two penalty corners which Inge solidly transformed into unstoppable shots, and with that – another two goals for us.

The score was 5-0 at half time. We had 35 more minutes to continue scoring. The whole team managed to keep up the pressure, so that Lausanne did not enter the Servettienne circle even once in the second half. Defenders and mid-fielders passed the ball from one side to the other quickly, creating a lot of movement and gaps for the attackers to get into the opponent’s ‘D’. Both Inge and Alicia scored several beautiful goals in the second half, so did Mathilde in a strong attack from the left back, as well as Mariam and Sophie with a deviation that was unsaveable for Lausanne’s goalie. The final score of 13-0 is a fantastic outcome that reflects the match adequately. Ultimately, the result made us jump from the 8th to the 6th rank in the overall league (LNA/LNB). Now there is only one more team to conquer in this half of the season – RS Zürich, next Sunday, 23 October.
