Successful dress rehearsal against FC Lyon Hockey
The format we play by in this trial match is 4 x 17.5minutes (same as in the championship), objective of this match for the team was to get minutes playing with one another and get to know how the group plays. As it is a young group in the forward line we need to be on the same page with our communication as the line behind us and understanding with the format the coach Xavier wants us to play.
As this being my first time playing against this team FC Lyon Hockey I did not know what to expect in regard to whether they are quite strong or an opponent that we can take advantage of and really work on ourselves as a team. As for Lyon scoring first this meant that we had to stick to our game plan and stay in touch with one another. With this happening it was shortly after Servette HC created the opportunity to get one back scored by Pascal Zimmermann.
Prior to the game we had spoken about where we were going to press them and when we would apply pressure, we spoke about if we were to score we would spend the next 3-5 minutes full press to try keep our momentum going forward whilst they’re were on the back foot.
After a half time talk we resolved that our leads through the midfield and from our strikers were very much on the same line which wasn’t giving us options coming out of defence, once this was spoken about it began to improve. Passes began to be linked together throughout the lines. After holding the score to 1-1 for the majority of the game our fitness came into play in the third and fourth quarter, finding us having score another two goals one from Gaëtan Fabron and the other from Oscar Lüscher.
All in all, what the team has taken from the trial game is positive and we are now able to move forward as a group. Getting to know the team and how each other likes to play for the back end of the season ahead.
