Match report of our last regular competition game against Lucerne

Lucerne, Saturday 14th of June – Under the blazing summer sun, Servette traveled to Lucerne for the final match of the regular season, before the Final Four next weekend.

While we are already looking forward for playoffs, this game was a perfect last test. It was the chance to adapt to conditions, get familiar with the pitch, and sharpen our focus for what’s to come.

From the first whistle, Servette brought intensity and purpose. The game started with good energy despite the heat, and we managed to quickly assert ourselves. Lucerne was a strong opponent, but we really started confident and as a team. Our efforts paid off when Sanne opened the scoring from a well-executed penalty corner. Not long after, she added a stunning backhand strike, doubling our lead with style. Lucerne came back, and scored the 1-2.

Fastly after Charlotte followed up with another sharp penalty corner, extending the gap and showing just how dangerous we can be on set pieces. Afterwards, Sole joined the scoresheet with a rebound from the keeper. Lucerne came back again with another two goals. Luckily Sole made another goal, beating the keeper in a 1vs1. Which resulted in the end score: 3-5 win for Servette!

The match wasn’t without its challenges. Lucerne fought back and managed to score three times, keeping the pressure on and reminding us that there’s no room to relax. While the game opened up at times and tested our defensive discipline, we kept our heads and held onto our lead. Great compliments for the corner defense, who saved 7 penalty corners in a row!

The extreme heat made it a physically as well as mentally demanding contest, but with similar temperatures expected next weekend, this was the kind of preparation we needed. It was a solid win, but more importantly, a chance to refine our game and grow stronger as a team.

Now, all eyes are on the Final Four next weekend. The focus is clear, one more week of good training and we’re ready to fight for it.

Be there next weekend to support us. Let’s go, Servette!
